Signs of the Times

Matthew 16:2-3 - He answered and said to them, "When it is evening you say, It will be fair weather, for the sky is red. and in the morning, It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening. Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.

Every one of us is on this earth on the time God wants us to be here. We should know what the Bible tells us about the time we are living in. Jesus is speaking with the people living in His time and He said to them that they do not know the time which they lived in.

Isaiah 33:6 - Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, And the strength of salvation; The fear of the Lord is His treasure. These chapters in Isaiah is talking about judgment and if we do not know the signs of the times it can bring fear but if we get understanding from God's Word it will bring hope.

So we can have understanding of the signs of the time we live in and that will bring wisdom and knowledge inside the Word of God and that will bring stability to us.

There is a hopelessness on the earth especially here in Europe and unlike in America where people turned to God When something happened like with 9 11. In Europe people have no hope in God as they do not know Him. There for there is no stability. People have lost hope in the future.

WITHOUT GOD AND WITHOUT HOPE.

It is the Will of God that we understand the signs of the time. The only way for us to know and understand is to know the Scriptures. If we know the prophetic Scriptures then we can know what is happening in our time according to the Word of God.

Our foundation must be the Written Word of God.

Isaiah 40:8 - The grass withers, the flower fades; But the word of our God is stands forever. Our faith must be in the Word which never changes. This will be our stability.

In order for us to understand Bible prophecy we have to believe that the Bible is the written Word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 - All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:15 - And that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Paul is telling Timothy that he knew the scripture and the scripture which Paul is talking about is the "Tenah" - the law, the prophets and the songs as the Jews call it and we know it as the Old Testament.

2 Peter 1:16-18 - For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitness of His majesty for He received from God the Father honour and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory; "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased". And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

Peter was there on the mountain (Matthew 17) and he saw with his own eyes and heard with his own ears. But still he said in:

2 Peter 1:19 - "And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;"

He said that the prophetic word is more certain than anything else. He said that we will do well if we give attention to the prophetic word in the Word of God as "to a light shining in a dark place". Peter calls the prophetic word "a light shining in a dark place".

2 Peter 1:20 - Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation.

Each prophecy in the Word has to harmonize with the rest of the Word. We can not take one verse and make a doctrine out of it. We have to honour the whole Word of God and look at prophecy in the Word in total.

2 Peter 1:21 - For prophecy never came by the will man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

This is what we should believe that God has moved on holy men and they wrote the words of God. We can trust our lives on the Word of God.
