1 Corinthians 3:6 - I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.
This is clear in the Word of God that God is giving the increase. It asks for "work" on our side. We have to plant the seed and water them. We must not try to do what the Word clearly says that He is doing. We have our part and God has His part.
In the spiritual realm the "planting" is prayer and "watering" is the Word of God. We plant in prayer, water with the Word, and expect God to give the increase. We will also see in the Word that God has enough for every one of us.
Mark 12:42-44 - Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury, for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood."
The widow gave to God, in faith, believing that God had enough for her. She knew that God is a God of abundance and is a re-warder of them that diligently seek Him (see Hebrews 11:6). We need to follow the example of the widow who gave her last money and waited on God in faith for the increase.
1 Kings 17:13-16 - And Elijah said to her, "Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. For thus says the LORD God of Israel: 'The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the LORD sends rain on the earth.'" So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke by Elijah.
Another example of a widow who knew that she had enough for herself and her son. Then she realized that she had enough for the prophet of God, Elijah. Her attitude of increase toward her situation led to God's provision.
2 Kings 4:1-7 - A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, "Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves." So Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" And she said, "Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil." Then he said, "Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors-empty vessels; do not gather just a few. And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones." So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, "Bring me another vessel." And he said to her, "there is not another vessel." So the oil ceased. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, "Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest."
Again another widow came to Elisha when creditors wanted to sell her sons to pay off the debts of her husband. Elisha told her to borrow vessels to fill from a single pot of oil that she had in her house. Then he told her to sell the oil to pay the debt and live off the rest of the profit. Looking at this portion in Scripture we see that when we do what God tells us to do, we can expect the supernatural because God has enough for us all.
Increase isn't just financial prosperity. Paul's spirit of increase led to the advancement and furtherance of the gospel. And God can increase every circumstance of our life.
We have to believe that we are going to come out of our circumstance better then ever. That's the spirit of increase! Let us allow God to multiply and increase our lives.
