Bread and Wine

Genesis 14:18-20 - Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: " Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth, and blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand." And he gave him a tithe of all.

So many times we hear believers ask the question: "Where should I give financially?" There are so many answers to the question. The enemy tries to bring confusion to the believers to rob them form a great blessing.

And it is so clear in the Word of God if we just would take the time to study the Word.

In Hosea 4:6 we read that "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge because you have rejected knowledge". When we have the wrong information we are in a very dangers' place.

Now let us look at Genesis 14:18 - "Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine".

What does the "bread and wine" stand for?

Bread:

John 6:51 - Jesus said: "I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world."

We also know that the Word of God is "bread".

Luke 4:4 - "But Jesus answered him, saying, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.'"

We need to spend time in the Word of God to be fed.

As spiritual leaders we have to feed the people God in trusted to us with the living bread. We have to study the Word and be ready in season and out of season to break bread to them. Our Church or Ministry much be a place where our members will receive the Word of God as living bread. It must be the truth.

Titus 2:7-8 (Amp) - And show your own self in all respects to be a pattern and a model of good deeds and works, teaching what is unadulterated, showing gravity having the strictest regard for truth and purity of motive, with dignity and seriousness. And let your instruction be sound and fit and wise and wholesome, vigorous and irrefutable and above censure, so that the opponent may be put to shame, finding nothing discrediting or evil to say about us.

Wine:

The wine represents the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit came in Acts the people said that the disciples were drunk of wine.

Acts 2:15-16 - But Peter said: For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel.

Joel 2:28-29 - "And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

We are living the time which Peter was talking about. The time in which the Holy Spirit will fell on all of us the believers and we have to make room for Him. We can not restrict the Holy Spirit of God. As leaders in our Churches or Ministries we have to open our hearts and our doors for the Holy Spirit and allow Him to work as He please. Our Churches and Ministries must be a place where the Word of God is the final authority and the Holy Spirit has a place to dwell. We must have the Bread and Wine freely available in our Churches and Ministries.

Back to the question: "Where should I give Financially?"

We have to do what Abram did. He gave his tithes to the one who gave him "bread and wine". Our finances must go to the Church or Ministry where we receive our "Bread and Wine". In other words where we receive the Word of God and where the Holy Spirit is welcome and we find the Holy Spirit at work.

As leaders we have to offer "Bread and Wine" to our members in order to enable them to give to the Church or Ministry.

But what about us as leaders?

Where do we give Financially? Same as Abram, to the people God had set over us as mentors to feed us with "Bread and Wine". We can not give to ourselves by giving it back into our Church or Ministry. We can not give to feed the poor. Why not? Because the poor do not give us "Bread and Wine". We also can not say: "I help my family financially and I use what we must give to where we are fed. No, your family does not give you "Bread and Wine".

That does not mean that we never give to the poor and our families, but our first priority is to where we received our Spiritual food, our Bread and Wine.
