On 17th December 2024 we got notice that the rent for our apartment went up way over €600. We knew we will not be able to afford that. We prayed, our God can do the impossible. He can work miracles.
We needed an increase in Willie's pension, or the company could have a change of heart and decide against the increase, or we had to find another apartment.
In January 2025 we started looking at available apartments in Gelsenkirchen. We took the first step and we knew God is faithful to direct us which way to go.
In faith with the peace of God in our hearts, on the 27th of January 2025, we sent a letter to the company and terminated our apartment. This was a big step in faith as in Germany there are normally more people that are looking for apartments than apartments available. In the end the agencies or owners will choose amongst the applicants. It can also take months before one gets a new apartment.
By faith we started packing, and started to sort out what we will have to through out. We prayed and got a word from God. "Leave the past behind, the past is just that, the past". And again God said "it is a new day with new beginnings". We knew that God said it was time to get rid of impractical, old furniture that look nice but keep us to the emotional and sentimental memories of the past. It is time to let go.
We saw two apartments in the internet. One fitted all we asked from God, the second most on our list, but definitely not our first choice. Thursday 30th of January we had two appointments to these two apartments. In the morning we looked at the apartment that was our second choice and in the afternoon we went to the apartment that was our first choice. We knew immediately that, that would be our new apartment. We prayed and asked for favour from God and the owner of the apartment.
Yesterday, 4th of February 2025 we got confirmation that we got the apartment we prayed for (our first choice). In fact the day before we got confirmation that we got the apartment that was our second choice. Speak about testing our faith. We would have missed God's best if we moved on the first confirmation.
We are moving April 1st 2025.
We prayed and asked God the following

God is faithful. We got a new apartment and more than we asked for.

Private owner He, his son and wife (also living in the building) speak English The building is on the border of Essen which mean closer to the Transplant Hospital where Willie must go for check ups. An intercom for the front door of the building, meaning more security. Electrical blinds for the windows.
We give glory and honour to our Great God. He is our Father and knows what we need before we even asked. Praise God.
